MILTON, MA – March 7, 2025 – Forbes House Museum visitors can enjoy a special concert of traditional Irish music with Celtic harper Regina Delaney on Friday, March 28.
As both a solo artist and part of The New England Irish Harp Orchestra, Delaney has performed on tour in Ireland, Germany, and the United States. She’s an accomplished musician who’s studied in the U.S. and Ireland, and received a scholarship from Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, an international organization that preserves and promotes Irish traditional music.
March 28 is the 178th anniversary of the date the USS Jamestown, helmed by Captain Robert Bennet Forbes, sailed from Boston to Cork, Ireland to deliver 800 tons of food and supplies for the people of Ireland suffering from the great famine. The historic 1847 humanitarian mission helped establish the U.S. as a leader in international aid and further deepen the bonds between the U.S. and Ireland.
“This evening will be a unique opportunity to enjoy a stunning musical performance in the beautiful setting of the Forbes House Museum,” says Heidi Vaughan, the museum’s executive director. “We’re delighted to welcome Regina to help us commemorate the Jamestown voyage and feature this wonderful Irish music as part of our Heritage Music Series.”
Guests can tour the museum, at 215 Adams St in Milton, before and after the concert to see the ship’s wheel from the USS Jamestown and other artifacts of the 1847 voyage on display. Light refreshments will be served following the performance.
Concert tickets are $25/person and $20/members and Card to Culture cardholders, and available at www.forbeshousemuseum.org/irish-harp-with-regina-delaney. The museum will open at 6:30 for the 7 pm performance; seating is limited.
