Flowers at the Forbes Brings Visitors to the Historic House Museum

MILTON, MA – January 31, 2025 –  Colorful floral arrangements brightened a winter weekend, as the Forbes House Museum and Milton Garden Club welcomed the community to “Flowers at the Forbes” in January. 

The historic house on Adams Street featured ten arrangements, designed by teams of garden club members, on display Jan. 24-26. Visitors from Milton, surrounding communities and other local garden clubs enjoyed special tours from museum guides highlighting how the designers created the arrangements to complement paintings, statues and other selections from the museum’s collections.

“Our members took full advantage of this unique opportunity to create arrangements based on the museum’s beautiful array of fine and decorative arts,” says Christine Paxhia, chair of garden club’s Floral Design committee. “Flowers at the Forbes demonstrates our members’ passion for floral design and dedication to education.” 

Supplementing the guided tours, the designers provided details about their creations in videos accessible by QR codes that accompanied the displays. The “Flowers at the Forbes” videos are now available on the museum’s YouTube channel @ForbesHouseMuseumMilton.

“We were delighted to see how our collection inspired such insightful and creative arrangements,” says Heidi Vaughan, the museum’s executive director. “This was our latest collaboration with the Milton Garden Club, and we’re looking forward to working with its members to host more programming in the future.”
