Hubby Jenkins is a gifted multi-instrumentalist known for his passionate performances of old-time American music. In his solo work Jenkins strives to share with audiences his knowledge about how African American history is woven through country, blues, ragtime, fiddle and banjo, and traditional jazz. Jenkins has performed at venues and festivals around the world and was an integral part of Grammy Award winning folk band the Carolina Chocolate Drops.

Annie and the Fur Trappers are a traditional jazz ensemble featuring trumpet, clarinet, banjo, bass, and washboard. They play lively and danceable arrangements of songs from the 1920s. The band has performed all over the country and at a variety of music festivals including the Big Muddy Blues Festival, The Whitaker Jazz Festival, Cherokee Street Jazz Fest, HONK!TX, Musikfest, The Cherokee Street Jazz Crawl, and The Rosebud Cafe Music Festival, to name a few.

Forbes House Museum is excited to launch our new Heritage Music Series with this talented and widely acclaimed duo. Jay Ungar and Molly Mason are masters of American traditional music. Ken Burns played Jay’s haunting composition “Ashokan Farewell” twenty-five times during his award-winning 11-hour series The Civil War. Of their music Burns said they “play music from the heart which reminds us of the best in all of us.” The duo have recorded albums with the legendary James Galway and the celebrated baritone Thomas Hampson. They’ve been featured on Prairie Home Companion and provided the soundtrack to the acclaimed documentary film Brother’s Keeper.
