The Federal Save America’s Treasures program began in 1999 to mark the beginning of the new millennium. It is one of the largest and most successful grant programs for the protection of our nation’s endangered and irreplaceable and cultural heritage. Applicants must be a municipality or nonprofit organization. Historic cultural resources in public and nonprofit ownership and use frequently suffer from deferred maintenance, incompatible use, or are threatened by demolition.
